Strawberry Field awarded Silver Green Tourism Award
The South Liverpool visitor attraction received the accolade in recognition of its on-going commitment to sustainability. Green Tourism is the largest sustainable certification programme of its kind, assessing a number of places to stay and visit in the UK and abroad. It recognises the commitment of tourism businesses who are actively working to become more sustainable and acts as a hallmark of ‘green quality’.
In particular, Strawberry Field’s support for local communities, health and well-being and excellence in equality and diversity were recognised. Our year-round programme of free and accessible events and activities foster community engagement and support well-being. Through our Steps at Strawberry Field programmes, we provide training and work placement opportunities for people to help them achieve their goals. At Strawberry Field, we aim to provide a warm welcome and place of sanctuary to all visitors, whether they come from round the corner or across the seas.
We have also made developments such as supporting biodiversity through the installation of bat boxes, bug hotels and hedgehog highways to allow wildlife to thrive in our famous gardens. We endeavour to use local suppliers to ensure fair and just working practises for those in our supply chain. Strawberry Field continues to work hard on being accessible to everyone, from improving the exhibition tour for visually impaired visitors to providing walking maps to help visitors to explore on foot.
