Cavern Club run for 26.2 hours to raise money for Strawberry Field

Our friends at the Cavern Club are running the London Marathon in 2025 to raise funds for Strawberry Field. And if that wasn't hard enough, they're kicking off their fundraising by running around the Strawberry Field gardens for 26.2 hours! James, Neil and Martin will be running in a relay fashion with the aim to raise ÂŁ6000. That money will be used to keep the Strawberry Field 'gates open for good' and fund 'Steps at Strawberry Field', a series of programmes that help young adults overcome barriers to work.

James Clifford, Digital Marketing Manager at Cavern Club said, “When raising money for the London Marathon in 2022 I felt that a lot of the focus around raising the funds wasn’t centered on Strawberry Fields.  Now getting another chance to run the London Marathon, I wanted to put Strawberry Field and the great work that goes on there as the focal point of my fundraising efforts. So as if a marathon wasn’t going to be difficult enough I suggested the idea of running around Strawberry Field gardens for 26.2 hours, hoping to find out it wasn’t possible! Turns out it was possible and Martin and Neil were up for the challenge as well. Our goal is to raise awareness of the fantastic work Strawberry Fields does and the vital charity efforts they support, while also honoring The Beatles’ legacy in the city. What better way to do this than to run around Strawberry Fields for what will feel like forever.”

Neil Brannan, Tour Guide on the Cavern Club's Magical Mystery Tours said, "I'm running for Strawberry Field because of the opportunity to provide not just for the young adults with additional needs, but also to the local community for a place of peace and tranquility. Obviously, I have a great opportunity to do this with my job taking 80,000 people a year to look at the gates of Strawberry Field so it's an ideal opportunity for me to utilise that to help raise much-needed funds. This will be my fourth and final London marathon and I couldn't think of a better cause to do it for."

Martin Quinn from the Cavern Club said, "I am running my first London Marathon for Strawberry Fields because I want to support a cause that is close to my heart. Strawberry Field does amazing work for the young people in our community by providing them with the resources and support they need. Running the London Marathon, I aim to raise both awareness and funds for their programmes. To help raise these funds we are running around Strawberry Fields “Forever”! Hoping to raise money for such a great cause before we take on London in April. This will be my 3rd Marathon but the 1st for such a great cause."

Thank you so much to James, Neil and Martin for taking on this challenge. We are deeply moved by this gesture! They will be running from Friday 1st November at 2pm to Saturday 2nd November 4.40pm. We hope you will join us during our 10am - 5pm opening hours to cheer them on. You can support their efforts by donating here.
