A Christmas Message from our Mission Director

20 Dec 2024

According to Christian tradition, Christmas is a time for miracles, when the impossible becomes possible, love reigns supreme, and God’s face is seen in human form… through a baby born in a cattle shed, of all places!

Here at Strawberry Field we believe - absolutely - in miracles. We’ve experienced them, first hand: the young man who finds the strength to leave the safety of his bedroom to take the first tentative steps into the world of work; the young girl who for the very first time in her life goes for a night out with friends, fellow Steps to Work trainees; the neighbours who call in every day with a word of encouragement for our team, even when they are not feeling on top of the world themselves. All possible, ‘with a little help’ from their friends within the Strawberry Field community.

2024 has been a good year for Strawberry Field, with a little help from our friends – all of you! Thank you for working with us to ‘open the gates for good’. As we look to the future, like many other charities doing good work in tough, economic times, we will need a miracle or two to ensure our gates stay open forever, but we promise to keep on going on, if you will too.

As the year draws to a close and a new year beckons, I want to wish you and yours the miracle of hope and joy in these uncertain and anxious times, and love and peace in the midst of discord or despair. Happy Christmas, everyone.
